Publication: Education Cannot Wait 2022 Results Report

Oxford MeasurEd along with Cambridge Education/Mott MacDonald are a Global Technical Partner supporting Education Cannot Wait (ECW) partners in measuring holistic learning outcomes in contexts of conflict and protracted crisis.

ECW’s 2022 results report highlights this work. In particular the report references work done on holistic outcomes measurement in Burkina Faso. This work highlighted that:

  1. The majority of grade five learners in MYRP supported schools were achieving basic or foundational French skills.

  2. Learners in formal settings scored significantly higher in French than those learners in non-formal settings.

  3. The most significant factor which correlates with learning is is the school learners attend, with other correlated factors including a negative correlation with teachers’ years of experience, as well as the proportion of displaced learners and absolute number of learners in a class.

  4. Finally, higher social-emotional learning levels positively (but not significantly) correlates with levels of learning in French, and (significantly) with Maths.
